All fans of Fox’s adult animated comedies will be happy to hear that most of them will be on air for the rest of the decade. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox signed a deal that ensures four more seasons for some of its major network shows. The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy are included, and American Dad is returning to Fox for additional seasons.
Via The Hollywood Reporter, The Simpsons will push its historic streak to an unprecedented 40th season, potentially nearing 900 total episodes. Family Guy is set to continue through Season 27, while Bob’s Burgers will reach its 19th season. Meanwhile, American Dad! has been renewed for Seasons 20 through 23, according to Fox’s tally.
THR quoted Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn in a statement saying “This new deal celebrates the eternal popularity of these iconic comedies, as well as the enduring, prolific relationship we continue to enjoy with our friends at 20th Television Animation and the brilliant creators — that goes double for Seth [MacFarlane] this time around — and incredible voices behind these contemporary classics.”
Fox CEO Rob Wade added “The longevity of this agreement reaffirms our commitment to the successful partnership we’ve built with the incredible team at Disney. This collaboration has and will continue to generate meaningful long-term value and strategically build audiences from Fox to Hulu to fans worldwide.”
“This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at Fox is truly monumental for these iconic animated series,” said Marci Proietto, head of 20th Television Animation, to THR. “We are so proud that these legendary shows will continue for hundreds of more episodes, allowing new and longstanding fans to watch, rewatch and experience more of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and Bob’s Burgers for years to come.”
