On Monday, Fox dropped trailers for five new series coming up in the 2017-2018 season, including 3 comedy series and 2 drama series. These five series include Marvel’s X-Men series The Gifted, space comedy The Orville, paranormal comedy Ghosted, airlines comedy series LA to Vegas, and medical drama The Resident.
Check out descriptions of the new series, as well as the official trailers, below:
The Gifted
Directed by Bryan Singer, the director behind The Usual Suspects, X-Men, X2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse, the series is a spinoff of the successful X-Men film franchise. The Gifted will focus on two teenage siblings who discover they have superhuman powers. These teenagers and their human parents go on the run, and on the way meet the other mutated humans, and choose to form an alliance to bring peace between humans and mutated humans.
Matt Nix, creator of USA network’s Burn Notice, has written the first season. Sean Teale (Reign), Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time), Coby Bell (Burn Notice), Emma Dumont (Bunheads), Blair Redford (Switched at Birth), Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs), and Percy Hynes White all star in the series.
The Gifted trailer already has nearly 10 million views on Youtube after being up for less than 24 hours.
The Orville
The Orville is essentially a spoof of Star Trek, with Seth McFarlane starring as the captain of the USS Orville. Set 300 years in the future, the crew of the Orville is considered one of the less ‘functional’ starships in the interstellar fleet. The cast includes Scott Grimes (ER, American Dad!), Penny Johnson Jerald (Castle, 24), Halston Sage (Paper Towns), and Eddie Davenport (Logan).
Ghosted
Ghosted features the comic duo of Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Craig Robinson (The Office), as a believer and a skeptic in paranormal activity. Both are hired by the Underground Investigative Service to look into ‘unexplained’ activity occurring in Los Angeles. Scott and Robinson previously starred together in another sci-fi-themed comedy, the 2015 film Hot Tub Time Machine 2.
LA>Vegas
LA > Vegas centers on an airline crew that flies from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on Friday, and fly the return flight on Sunday. In the time in-between, they get involved in all the immoral hi-jinks that Sin City has to offer. An ensemble workplace comedy, the cast includes Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story), Peter Stormare (22 Jumpstreet, The Big Lebowski), Nathan Kress (iCarly), Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project), and Amir Talai.
The Resident
The Resident is a medical drama series about a first year resident who is put up against a senior resident who shows him both the good and the bad of the medical field. The cast includes Emily Van de Camp (Revenge, Everwood), Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife, Gilmore Girls), Elizabeth Ludlow (The Walking Dead) and Manish Dayal (The Hundred Food Journey) as the lead character.
