Fox Develops New Animated Comedy ‘Cocky’ From Creators Of Cinemax’s ‘The Knick’

Fox is developing a new animation comedy Cocky from The Knick creators Jack Amiel and Micheal Begler, according to Deadline. The new comedy series will be produced by both Fox Entertainment and animation house Bento Box Entertainment, who currently works on another Fox comedy hit in Bob’s Burgers.

Written by Amiel and Beglar, the new Fox comedy Cocky is about a Ph.D. holding rideshare driver and his Cockatoo. The driver who lacks any filter whatsoever is “the smartest idiot in the world” Deadline reports. His Cockatoo however is the most overly-sensitive talking Cockatoo in the world according to the Deadline exclusive report.

The new animation comedy will be executive produced by Amiel and Begler along with Netflix comedy drama Maniac executive producer Michael Sugar, reported by Deadline. According to IMDb, Sugar is also credited with executive producing Cinemax’s The Knick, as well as movies like Collateral Beauty, and recent Netflix series like The OA, and 13 Reasons Why.

Created by Amiel and Beglar, the writing duo is best known for The Knick, a series about the nurses and doctors of New York’s Knickerbocker hospital taking place at the turn of the twentieth century according to IMDb. The Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominated Cinemax series, The Knick ran for three seasons. The series which ended in 2015 was directed by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Contagion) and starred Andre Holland (A Wrinkle In Time, Moonlight) and Clive Owen (Inside Man, Closer) as surgeons at the Knickerbocker hospital. The writing duo’s list of feature credits also include The Shaggy Dog which starred Tim Allen (Home Improvement), Kate Hudson’s Raising Helen and The Prince and Me.
