Fox Comedy ‘Animal Control’ Finds A New Home At Netflix After Streaming Deal

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first two seasons of Fox’s Animal Control are available on Netflix after Fox Entertainment Global recently closed a deal with the streamer for the U.S. streaming rights. The surprise  December 26 drop will be followed by the release of Season three and eventually the upcoming fourth season, which debuts on Fox later today, December 28.

As per Deadline, the previous season of the series made its way from Hulu to Netflix, as Hulu has in-season rights to all Fox series. The streamer gets new episodes the day after they premiere on the broadcast network and Fox One. Since December 28, only the “rolling 5” most recent Episodes, six to ten of season three, are available on the Disney platform.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, recently, Fox has been selling its fully owned series across platforms and countries. Animal Control follows the sale to Netflix of its two other fully owned returning series, animated comedies Krapopolis and Grimsburg. Sony Pictures Television recently made a deal with Netflix for the domestic library rights to the Fox medical drama Doc.

As per Deadline, the synopsis of the series is as follows: “Animal Control follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple but humans are not. McHale stars as Frank Shaw, an overqualified, over-opinionated Animal Control officer who has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals. But humans … not so much. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which might explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. It also stars Michael Rowland, Vella Lovell, Ravi Patel and Grace Palmer.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, created by Bob Fisher (Overboard, Sirens), Rob Greenberg (The Moodys, Meet Dave) and Dan Sterling (Long Shot, The Interview), the series cast includes Joel McHale (Community, The Happytime Murders) as Frank Shaw, Vella Lovell (The Big Sick, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Emily Price, Michael Rowland (The Life List, Adult Best Friend) as Fred Taylor, Ravi Patel (Meet The Patels, Master of None) as Amit Patel and Grace Palmer (Good Grief, The Driver) as Victoria Sands.

Animal Control  is now available to stream on Netflix.
