Fox Cancels ‘Welcome to Flatch’

Deadline reports that Fox has cancelled comedy series Welcome to Flatch after season two. Welcome to Flatch follows a documentary crew exploring the residents of a small town in America called Flatch.

The series starred Holmes (A Very Merry Toy Store, Free Time) as Kelly Mallet, Aya Cash (The Boys, You’re the Worst) as Cheryl Peterson, Taylor Ortega (Kim Possible, After Yang) as Nadine Garcia-Parney, Sam Straley (The Kids Are Alright, Once Upon a River) as Shrub Mallett, Justin Linville (Here Today, Rushed) as Mickey St. Jean, and Sean William Scott (American Pie, Dude, Where’s My Car?) as Father Joe.

“While audience response was not as strong as we had hoped, we were thrilled with the creativity of the enormously talented Jenny Bicks and Paul Feig, as well as the outstanding, dedicated cast and crew they assembled. We look forward to collaborating with them again in the future and are thankful for all of our partners at Lionsgate, Jenny’s Perkins Street Productions, Paul’s Feigco Entertainment, BBC Studios’ Angie Stephenson, and Charlie Cooper and Daisy May Cooper,” said spokesperson for Fox to Deadline.

President of Scripted Programming, Fox Entertainment, Michael Thorn (Teen Wolf, Little Brother), told Deadline in May that the network was “taking a step back on our live action comedy”.

“We’re still talking about [Welcome To Flatch]. But I think as we wait for the strike to end we’re going to look at our development, and Welcome To Flatch and make the best decision for that comedy goal… and see where we stand. I think we’ll have some news as soon as the as soon as the strikeouts,” Thorn also said, according to Deadline.

Welcome to Flatch was executive produced by Jenny Bicks (The Greatest Showman, What a Girl Wants), Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat), Angie Stephenson (Ghosts, The Night Of), Daisy May Cooper (Rain Dogs, This Country), and Charlie Cooper (Avenue 5, This Country). Bicks served as showrunner. It was produced by Fox Entertainment, Lionsgate, and BBC Studios’ LA production arm.
