Lifetime will premiere the sequel to their Lifetime Original Movie Flowers in the Attic, Petals on the Wind, on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
Petals on the Wind is the second gothic novel from V.C. Andrews series about the Dollanganger family ten years after the siblings escape the attic where their mother Corrine (Heather Graham) and grandmother Olivia (Ellen Burstyn) held them hostage for more than two years.
Cathy (Rose McIver), Christopher (Wyatt Nash) and Carrie (Bailey Buntain) attempt to put their sordid past behind them but certain secrets can’t be left behind. Cathy enters an abusive relationship with fellow dancer, Julian (Will Kemp). Christopher and Cathy must face the feelings that developed while they were in captivity. Tragedy strikes again and Cathy returns to Foxworth Hall to confront her grandmother and get revenge on her mother. Her plan is to seduce her mother’s husband Bart (Dylan Bruce). Christopher goes to Cathy’s side and they two want to start over again – together.
The Lifetime adaptation of Flowers in the Attic received 6.1 million viewers, making it ad-supported cable’s most watched original movie in the demo since 2012. Lifetime is currently developing three other V.C Andrews books including If There be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday, both from the Dollananger series. The third is standalone novel My Sweet Audrina.
A&E Studios is producing Petals on the Wind. Executive producers on the film are Meredith Finn, Michele Weiss, Charles W. Fries, Rob Sharenow, Tanya Lopez and Lisa Hamilton Daly. Producers are Richard D. Arredondo and Kyle A. Clark. The teleplay is by Kayla Alpert and Karen Moncrieff directed.
