According to Deadline, a multitude of episodes of the Disney+ original series, Secret Invasion, are set to stream on Hulu for a limited amount of time. Beginning on July 26, the first three episodes of Secret Invasion, titled “Resurrection,” “Promises” and “Betrayed,” will begin streaming on Hulu tomorrow, July 21, and will remain on Hulu until August 17.
The series is set in the present day of the MCU, or Marvel Cinematic Universe, and features Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Glass). Jackson’s character, Nick Fury, learns of an invasion on Earth by shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury and his allies, Maria Hill, Everett Ross and the Skrull Talos, race against time to save humanity from an imminent Skrull invasion.
The Disney+ original series is directed and executive produced by Ali Selim (Sweet Land, The Looming Tower). Fellow executive producers include Louis D’Esposito (Iron Man, Avengers: Endgame), Kevin Feige (Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy), Victoria Alonso (The Marvels, Captain Marvel), Brian Tucker (Broken City, Expiration), Jonathan Schwartz (The Way Back, Captain Marvel), Brad Winderbaum (Agent Carter, Thor: Ragnarok), Jackson and Kyle Bradstreet (Copper, Mr. Robot). Co-executive producers include Brant Englestein (Emergence, Agent Carter), Jennifer L. Booth (Addicted, Halloween II) and Allana Williams (Captain Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). Bradstreet also serves Secret Invasion as the head writer.
Secret Invasion streaming on Hulu is a big deal! This is one of the very first times that a Disney+ original will also stream on Hulu. Both American Born Chinese and Andor have both also streamed on Hulu and shows have moved back and forth between the two streamers. The Mysterious Benedict Society has been moved from Hulu to Disney+ and Love, Victor and High Fidelity have been moved from Disney+ to Hulu.
A lot of these moves are occurring as Hulu is merging with Disney+. CEO of Disney, Bob Iger (One Day at Disney, ESPN College Football), says this is part of a “one-app experience.” Of course Hulu will still function as a standalone streaming service but will integrate more Disney+ content and vice versa.
The integration of the two streamers is only expected to happen in the United States and is expected by the end of this year.
