First Teaser Released For Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s ‘The Morning Show’

Apple TV has released their first teaser for their upcoming show The Morning Show. Last March, Apple announced that they are launching their own streaming service Apple TV, and that Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will be starring in a TV show together. Today they released the first pieces of footage.

The Morning Show will give a behind-the-scenes look at running a morning show. While the teaser did not show much of the characters except through pictures and posters, the viewer was able to get a grasp on the characters through their voice overs.

According to Variety, the show comes from Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res studio, which is based on an idea from Ellenberg. It also is loosely based on CNN’s Senior Media Correspondent Brian Stelter’s book Top of The Morning. The books describes the rivalry between NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America.

Kerry Ehrin will be showrunning and executive producing the show alongside Ellenberg. Aniston will also be producing the show with her partner Kristin Hahn through their company Echo Films. Witherspoon will be producing the show with her producing partner Lauren Levy Neustadter through their production company Hello Sunshine. Mimi Leder is signed on to executive produce and direct the show as well. Leder has stated the show will focus on women in power as well as touch on the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements.

According to Entertainment Weekly, it is unsure as to who Aniston and Witherspoon will be playing, but they will play “two ambitious, aspirational female characters.” Steve Carell with also star in the show as Mitch Kessler, who is a struggling anchor trying to maintain his relevance in the ever-changing media world. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Billy Crudup, Bel Powley, Karen Pittman, Desean Terry, and Mark Duplass will also star.

The Morning Show will reunite Aniston and Witherspoon on the screen since Friends. It also marks Aniston’s first leading role in a television show since Friends, as well as marks Steve Carell’s return to television since he left The Office back in 2011.

The Morning Show will premiere in the fall with a 10-episode-long season.
