Hijack, the upcoming Apple TV+ series, has just released its first trailer, showing a much anticipated performance from Idris Elba (Luther, Beast). The trailer also shows other actors to star in the series such as Neil Maskell (Bull, Kill List), Max Beesly (Bodies, Mad Dogs), and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife, Bend It Like Beckham).
The trailer gives viewers a preview as what is to come in the upcoming series. Elba is seen playing a character by the name of Sam who has boarded a plane taking flight from Dubai to London that is overtaken by armed men. Using his skills as a negotiator, Sam attempts to diffuse the precarious situation at hand and even try to outwit the uninvited guests. However, the more he gets involved, the more he learns there are bigger plays at hand. Simultaneously, Panjabi’s character is the leader of a counterterrorism group who are trying to gather as much information and solutions to solve the issue regarding the plane hijack to ensure the safety and lives of everyone on board.
Creators George Kay (Lupin, Criminal: UK) and Jim Field Smith (She’s Out of My League, Butter) have also cast the phenomenal actors Eve Myles (Keeping Faith), Jasper Britton (Night Will Fall), Aimee Kelly (Wolfblood), Ben Miles (Coupling), Mohamed Elsandel (Hireath), and Neil Maskell (Bull). Elba along with Jamie Laurenson (Perfect Sense) and Kris Thykier (Harry Brown) will be serving as an executive producer among the writer and directors Kay and Field-Smith. The series is Green Door Pictures’, Idris Elba’s studio, first series and it’s first shared project with Apple. 60Forty Films, the production company that has worked with Apple to create shows such as Slow Horses and The Essex Serpent, produced Hijack and so has IdiotLamp Productions, Field-Smith and Kay’s own production company.
Hijack will be released on Apple TV+ later this summer on June 28, so make sure to tune in for a gripping adventure.
