Although the sixth and final season of Downton Abbey does not premiere till 2016, photos from the critically acclaimed show have been released including the photo above (via Variety).
The British period drama takes place in 1925 in a fictional location, Downton Abbey. The show follows the lives of the Crawley family and their servants as they go through historical british events. Downton Abbey‘s cast includes Hugh Bonneville (Iris), Jim Carter (House of 9), and Maggie Smith (Nowhere to Go) just to name a few.
In PBS’ press release, they talked about Downton Abbey‘s final season and what’s to come for the series, “As our time with the Crawleys begins to draw to a close, we see what will finally become of them all. The family and the servants, who work for them, remain inseparably interlinked as they face new challenges and begin forging different paths in a rapidly changing world” (via Parade).

While the show is coming to an end, fans are speculating that there will be a movie made. Executive producer, Gareth Neame, talked about the idea of a spinoff, “I can’t guarantee it’s even going to happen. Julian [Fellowes] and I would be very happy to do it if that opportunity comes along. Now that we’re at the beginning of the end of the TV show, we can start to think about it” (Variety).
The sixth and final season of Downton Abbey premieres on PBS January 3, 2016.
