The wait is almost over for fans of the hit Netflix series Squid Game, as the streaming giant has released a first look, which reveals that the third season is scheduled to release on June 27 this coming summer.According to Comicbook, the Korean drama series has captivated fans with its unique concept of participants completing dangerous challenges based on children’s games and delving deep into the mysterious organization behind it.
Another reason that makes the series unique is how it expresses the theme of social equality, where the contestants are driven by their greed for money. They continue partaking in the challenges instead of thinking about their lives.
An official description of the third season was released via Comicbook, stating, “Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game. Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players’ choices will lead to graver consequences with each round.”
According to Comicbook, the released footage gives a glimpse into what to expect from the third season. Some footage showcases a future challenge where the pink guards are in front of a gumball machine filled with red and blue spheres; another shows No-El, played by Park Gyu-young (Sweet Home), outside the facility with a mysterious purpose.
According to Comicbook, the third season was revealed in a recent video by Netflix on YouTube. The video showcases the lineup of shows coming this year, which also includes Stranger Things, Wednesday and Alice in Borderland. While fans await further information surrounding the plot of the third season, Squid Game seasons one and two are available to stream on Netflix.
