The FX anthology series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson revealed the first cast photos today.
The 10-episode miniseries is based on the book The Run Of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson written by Jeffrey Toobin. It follows the O.J. Simpson trial from the perspective of the lawyers on the case and it, “explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt,” according to the press release.
The cast photos show six of the stars in character. Cuba Gooding Jr. stars as O.J. Simpson; John Travolta is Robert Shapiro the defense attorney; David Schwimmer will play O.J.’s lawyer Robert Kardashian; Courtney B. Vance plays lawyer Johnnie Cochran; Sarah Paulson is prosecutor Marcia Clark and Billy Magnussen will portray witness Kato Kaelin. Their character photos can be seen below in order, from Entertainment Weekly.
Not pictured cast members include Selma Blair playing Kris Jenner, Jordana Brewster as the victim’s sister Denise Brown, Kenneth Choi as Judge Ito, and more.
Much like its companion anthology series American Horror Story, future seasons would explore other high profile true crime cases. The series is written by Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski and directed by Ryan Murphy. Murphy along with Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk and Dante Di Loretto will executive produce. The series will air on FX in 2016, according to the press release.
