First Images and Details of ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Revealed

The first-ever look at the second season of Disney+’s Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian has been revealed via Entertainment Weekly. They have released a collection of 7 photos taken from the set of season 2, revealing new looks for returning characters and teases of what’s to come.

The first set of photos focus on the main group of heroes from season 1 and the changes to their attire. The first photo is a shot of former rebel soldier Cara Dune (played by Gina Carano, Deadpool), the Mandalorian himself Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal, Game of Thrones), and former head of the Bounty Hunters’ Guild Greef Karga (Carl Weathers, Rocky). Their attire largely looks similar to what they sported in season 1. Notable differences include Djarin’s new signet (or family crest) on his shoulder pauldron and Karga’s new look.

The fourth photo in the collection has a close-up of Karga, showing his new outfit in greater detail: a white beard, black overcoat, and magenta shirt are especially prominent. Weathers described to Entertainment Weekly how Karga will change: “You’ll get chance to see him in a different light and a side of him that you didn’t see last time.” Cara Dune is the focus of the third photo, with Carano telling Entertainment Weekly that the first season was merely a humble beginning, and that “they take the gloves off even more in season 2.”

Djarin features in the second and sixth photos, alongside the breakout star of season 1, The Child (commonly known as “Baby Yoda”). The sixth photo shows the pair on an all-new Speeder Bike, teasing all-new equipment for the bounty hunter. The fifth photo is a close up of mysterious villain Moff Gideon (played by Giancarlo Esposito, The Boys). Esposito told Entertainment Weekly that Gideon “has access to all of this great technology at his fingertips, and he knows how to use it,” bringing to mind the Darksaber he was seen wielding at the end of season 1.

Finally, the seventh photo in the collection shows off a Tusken Raider riding a Bantha. Both are species native to the classic desert planet Tatooine, hinting that Djarin will return to the planet after briefly visiting it in episode 5 of season 1. Said episode ended with teasing the arrival of a hidden, heavily-armored figure on Tatooine, implying unfinished business on the planet. Compiled with reports of fan-favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett appearing in the series, these set the stage for a return to the planet.

Last week, Disney officially announced The Mandalorian season 2 will premiere October 30th. Timothy Olyphant (The Office) as Cobb Vanto and Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Ahsoka Tano have also been reported to appear. The first season of The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney+.
