Deadline has reported that Fiona Shaw (Bad Sisters, Echo Valley) will be joining the cast of Presumed Innocent for the upcoming second season as a series regular. The series stars Rachel Brosnahan (House Of Cards, Superman) as well as Mathew Rhys (The Post, Burnt), Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Midsommar), and Courtney P. Vance (Lilo Stitch, Heist 88).
According to Deadline, the series follows an anthology structure with the second season taking inspiration from Jo Murray’s (Dissections Of A Murder, Pressumed Innocent) debut legal thriller Dissections of A Murder. Lelia, played by Brosnahan, takes center stage as a defense attorney who takes on a heavily scrutinized case. Vance will play Leila’s superior at her firm, Shaw is an attorney and second chair on the case, Rhys is Leila’s spouse, and Reynor will be the defendant.
Via Deadline, Jake Gyllenhaal led the series’ first season, based on a work of the same name. Season one ranked as Apple TV+’s most-watched drama series when it aired.
Deadline has reported that the series is produced by Bad Robot and David E. Kelley Productions. David E. Kelley (The Practice, Big Little Lies) takes on the showrunner role with Erica Lopez (The Morning Show, Bates Motel). From Bad Robot, J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek) and Rachel Rusch Rich (Lovecraft Country, Castle Rock) will executive produce. Kelley, Lipez, and Matthew Tinker (Big Little Lies, The Undoing), hailing from David E. Kelley Productions, will also executive produce. Dustin Thomason (Castle Rock, Lie To Me) will also serve as an executive producer, unattached to a production shingle. Bronhashan will also be credited as an EP via her production company, Nine Stories. Murray will serve in a Co-Executive Producer capacity.
According to Deadline, the first season of the anthology received numerous accolades, including four Emmy nominations, all in acting categories. The series also introduced Chase Infiniti to the world of screen acting. She would go on to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the critically acclaimed One Battle After Another.
Via Deadline, Shaw is most known in television for her work on Killing Eve and Fleabag, the latter of which she won a BAFTA Television award. She also acted in the Harry Potter series. She will be featured in the new Sense and Sensibility movie and the Prime Video series Anansi Boys.
