Fear the Walking Dead‘s showrunner Dave Erickson may have left the helm in March, but this prequel to television zombie phenomenon The Walking Dead will live on. Variety reports that AMC has renewed this companion series for a fourth season, with Once Upon a Time alums Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg as the new co-showrunners. Despite the decline in ratings and viewership in season two, the show is still one of the most highly watched on AMC, along with its parent series.
Fear the Walking Dead is a prequel to The Walking Dead, so it features an impending zombie apocalypse, the collapse of civilization, international chaos, and undead cannibals. Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead is set to premiere June 4, 2017 with all of its regular cast members returning. Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead ended early last October with, among other things, a mob of infected and some of our main characters taken down as they headed from Mexico to the region of the United States.
In addition, the producer and showrunner of the original The Walking Dead Scott M. Gimple will become an executive producer on Fear the Walking Dead, per Variety. He will be joining executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, and Dave Erickson.
