Fans Concerned About Season 2 Animation With Release Of New ‘Blue Lock’ Trailer

Anime fans can rejoice as the fall approaches with new premieres of familiar favorites and exciting new series heading their way. At the top of October’s drop list for anime fans is Blue Lock, and according to ComicBook, many fans are concerned about the second season’s animation after a new trailer was released.

Eight Bit Studios, the company behind Blue Lock recently dropped this special trailer introducing the arc for the second season, Blue Lock VS U– 20 Japan. Although the clip was brief, it put heavy focus on the series protagonist Yoichi Isagi as he navigates an onslaught of new teammates, and many beloved familiar ones, trying to compete with Japan’s under-20 national team.

Blue Lock is a new-gen star in the world of sports anime. The series follows Isagi as he goes through the Blue Lock program – created after an onslaught of failures from the Japanese national soccer team on the world stage, the blue lock program is created to take top strikers from across Japan and have them compete for a spot on the national roster… And only the best egoist will win.

For many Blue Lock fans, the action sequences were some of the most memorable of the first season, and with this trailer, fans are very nervous that this action might be stifled by poor animation. Many have critiqued the trailer for showcasing “slideshow“ animation, which does not give way to the fluidity and dynamic action that comes from both the first season and from soccer itself. Many of the trailer’s critics have accused the clip of scenes seeming to transition slowly and use jump cuts to tie together scenes.

Although this newest trailer has not instilled much confidence in the series’ fanbase, the anime has a strong reputation and many fans are still excited for the second season. Season two is set to premiere on October 5, and fans are eagerly waiting to see the fate of their favorite strikers.
