After last week’s WandaVision episode gave fans their first look at Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) since Ant-Man and the Wasp and Thor: The Dark World respectively, theories about spin-off show featuring the duo began circulating online. According to ComicBook, interviews with each of the actors, the news has reached the stars – and they seem to want the spinoff just as much as fans.
Marvel fans have long held tremendous power, especially when using their online presence. In 2019, their collective uproar provided the pressure needed for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios to strike a deal continuing Marvel’s use of Spider-man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, the fans are pushing for an X-Files type mystery show following Jimmy Woo and Darcy as they investigate different superhero cases within the MCU.
According to ComicBook, Park said “I’ve heard that and I didn’t know that, but I learned that today and I think that that would be amazing! And I would be down if, you know, if Kevin Feige he wanted that, in a heartbeat of course I would do it.”
Dennings also seemed to be onboard with the idea, stating “I have heard rumblings of people saying that, which I will take with a grain of salt, but I mean I’ll work with Randall Park any day.” (ComicBook)
While no one at Marvel Studios has issued an official statement, other Marvel stars seem to think the show would be a great idea. Simu Liu (Pacific Rim), star of Marvel’s anticipated Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings film, stated on Twitter that he’d be “down” both to see and potentially cameo in the series.
Fans have yet to see Liu on-screen as Shang-Chi, but the actor’s tweets have been influential in the past; according to ComicBook, he first sought out the Shang-Chi role on the social media platform, proving the strategy has worked before.
Although the Jimmy Woo and Darcy spinoff series is only speculation for now, fans have plenty more to see of the duo as they try to figure out who or what is controlling the mysterious Westview. Marvel dropped a new mid-season trailer released for WandaVision on February 1 on the studio’s YouTube channel.
The first four episodes of WandaVision are now streaming on Disney+, with episode five releasing on Friday, February 5.
