Fan Favorites Lead Nominations for 39th Annual Television Critics Association’s Awards

With little shock to audiences, shows such as HBO/Max’s The Last of Us and Succession along with FX and Hulu’s The Bear are absolutely leading the nominations for this years annual Television Critics Association Awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO and Max led the nominations with a whopping 20 nominations across the different categories.

The nominations for the award ceremony are voted on by over 200 members of the Television Critics Association. Melanie McFarland, the president of the TCA and also a television critic for the trusted news source, salon.com stated that “the 2023 nominees for the TCA awards boast an eclectic lineup from across the entertainment spectrum. This season truly had something for everyone – from innovative comedies and gripping dramas, to immersive documentaries and refreshingly cerebral storytelling set in a galaxy far, far away. I am eager to see which stars and series out members have chosen to honor when the winners are revealed.”

Some shows which were nominated or previously won their category were also nominated again. Critically acclaimed shows such as ABC’s Abbott Elementary and HBO’s Barry and The White Lotus.

Although the summer press tour has been canceled due to all the labor strife and the Writer’s Guild of America strike, the TCA award winners will be announced on August seventh and the winners of the TCA’s Career Achievement and Heritage Award winners will be revealed on a date that has yet to be announced.
