Famous Anime Actor David Wald Posts Accusations Against Crunchyroll

Every anime lover knows that Crunchyroll is the top place to stream their favorite ones. Although, the streaming website is now in the midst of a scandal. With a few social media posts, veteran anime voice actor David Wald (Fairy Tail, Diabolik Lovers) sent huge amount of accusations against Crunchyroll, Comicbook.com reports. Most of these accusations lean towards alleged mail tampering, as Wald stated that the streamer’s staff allegedly tampered with fan gifts that were supposed to be sent to him.

According to Comicbook.com, Wald made accusations against the streaming company, and Crunchyroll has stated that they are currently investigating the matter. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Wald alleges most of his Crunchyroll fan mail was not given to him. He claims the mail was allegedly opened by the streamer’s staff without his permission, with fan items allegedly trashed or given to the staff as gifts.

“Dear friends: if you sent me anything care of Funimation or Crunchyroll in the last 5 years, I apologize, I didn’t get it. I learned yesterday that Crunchyroll opened my private mail, threw away your letters, and passed out any included items to their staff,” Wald explained via Comicbook.com.

“Dear fellow workers at Crunchyroll, below is a photo of the complete contents of one of the packages addressed to me that was opened and distributed to employees. If you ended up in possession of any of it, I would very much like it returned to me,” Wald stated via Comicbook.com. Wald even shared his disappointment with a fan of his, stating that he is “livid” by this situation, and he blames Crunchyroll for these decisions.

“I assume that the workers just took stuff they were told was free. The management made the decision,” Wald continued via Comicbook.com.

Furthermore, Wald also went on to support other users’ comments against Crunchyroll with more X (formerly Twitter) posts, embedded below, via Comicbook.com: “Me, thinking: “…Jeez, it’s a good thing I didn’t tell them about the gay discrimination. Or the medical discrimination. Or the union busting. Or the continuous culture of fear. Or the hostile workplace environment, or…”

Wald concluded via Comicbook.com, “Friends, I deeply appreciate your support and encouragement in my current circumstances, and I identify with your anger. To the press who have reached out, know that I would love to speak with you, but I have several meetings ahead of me before I can do so.”

“Anime fans have a special connection with dub voice talent and that emotional expression is important in fueling more love of anime content,” Crunchyroll shared in a statement to ANN via Comicbook.com. “We are currently investigating the matter regarding the allegation of undelivered fan mail to a voice actor. We respect the privacy of all of our voice actors and do not intentionally open mail or packages not intended for Crunchyroll. Any fan mail should be sent directly to talent and their management.”

At the moment, according to Comicbook.com, Wald shares that fan mail was returned to him after these items were “found on the company giveaway table”, hoping to recuperate the rest of them.
