‘Family Guy’ Midseason Finale Confirms Character’s Death

Family Guy has confirmed the death of Doug, voiced by Chris Parnell (Rick and Morty, 21 Jump Street), in its mid-season finale, according to TV Line. In the episode titled “The Candidate,” Stewy Griffin, voiced by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane (Ted, American Dad!), and Doug compete for the honor of the class snack captain. The episode ends with Stewie casually mentioning that Doug “died in commuter plane crash this morning,” via TV Line

Family Guy has killed off its characters before to serve as a joke with no permanent consequences. Audiences have seen characters such as Peter Griffin and Brian, both played by Seth MacFarlane, and Lois Griffin, played by Alex Borstein (Bad Santa, Catwoman), die and come back to life in the next episode, sometimes in the next scene.

However, Doug’s death has been confirmed, as the episode served as his final appearance in the series, according to TV Line. Other characters that have been killed off permanently include Mr. Weed, voiced by Carlos Alazraqui (Fairly Odd Parents, Planes), Diane Simmons, voiced by Lori Alan (Inside Out, Spongebob Squarepants) and Muriel Goldman, voiced by Nicole Sullivan (17 Again, Meet the Robinsons).

Alongside MacFarlane and Borstein, the Family Guy cast includes Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Power: International Man of Mystery), Mila Kunis (That ‘70s Show, Black Swan),  Mike Henry (The Cleveland Show, The Orville), and Patrick Warburton (Bee Movie, Get Smart).

Family Guy is available to stream on Hulu and Prime Video.
