The multi-billion-dollar Fallout franchise is adding yet another aspect to its universe with an upcoming reality TV series. Prime Video announced that Fallout Shelter: The Experiment will premiere Jan. 13, 2027, alongside the series’ first teaser, according to ScreenRant.
The franchise’s record-breaking live-action adaptation of the original post-apocalyptic 1997 RPG is set to release its third season next year. Series star Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) talked about the show’s filming progress, stating, according to ScreenRant, “We’re still shooting away. We have about a month to go and then probably come out in May or June, maybe?”
The upcoming reality competition series Fallout Shelter (working title) draws inspiration from the Fallout video game franchise and its popular Amazon television adaptation. The show will bring a group of contestants, or “dwellers,” together in a hidden vault, where they will take on various challenges inspired by seven key traits in the Fallout universe. Known by the acronym S.P.E.C.I.A.L., these attributes include strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, and luck.
According to ScreenRant, “The series will not only test dwellers’ core attributes, but also their loyalty and alliances. It’s a game of power dynamics, popularity and social strategy which will ultimately result in a huge cash prize, but do you have what it takes to be the most S.P.E.C.I.A.L?”
