Fans of Bethesda’s best-selling video game franchise, Fallout, received the first look at Prime Video’s series adaptation. The first trailer was released during a panel at today’s CCXP event in São Paulo, Brazil. View the trailer below.
The trailer embodies the satirical mayhem originally fashioned in the video game created by Todd Howard (The Elder Scrolls series). Produced by Kilter Films and executive produced by Jonathan Nolan (Westworld) and Lisa Joy (The Peripheral), Fallout is set two hundred years after nuclear warfare has left the world a desolate Wasteland, a gathering of fallout bunkers and class wars. Those who survived find themselves picking up the pieces of what their forefathers left behind.
The series stars Walton Goggins (Justified) as The Goul. A survivor of the Wasteland, the Ghoul is a pragmatic and ruthless bounty hunter with a mysterious past. Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) is Lucy, an all-American Vault Dweller whose optimistic outlook is tested when outsiders harm her loved ones. Aaron Moten (Emancipation) is Maximus, a young soldier whose belief in law and order has him join the Brotherhood of Steel, a militaristic faction. Finally, Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) is Overseer Hank, Lucy’s father, and the Overseer of Vault 33.
According to the official press release, additional cast members include Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest), Frances Turner (The Boys), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool), Zach Cherry (Severance), Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Johnny Pemberton (Ant-Man), Dave Register (Heightened), and Sarita Choudhury (Homeland).
Joining Nolan and Joy as executive producers are Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Portlandia). The duo also serves as writers and co-showrunners of the series. Nolan is set to direct the first three episodes. This is the first project from Nolan and Joy following the one-season run of the sci-fi thriller, The Peripheral.
The series had completed filming in March of 2023, according to an Instagram post from Goggins. He described the show as “a fucking tsunami coming your way!”
Fallout, not to be confused with the fan-made game trailer created this summer, premieres globally on April 24, 2024, exclusively on Prime Video.
