The upcoming voice cast of the new series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off gets their first on-screen debut. At Netflix’s Drop 01 event, a new clip has been released on the Netflix Anime’s YouTube channel, giving fans a first peek into how the new series is shaping up to be.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a new animated series based on the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. The highly-acclaimed Edgar Wright (Last Night In Soho, Baby Driver) live-action film adaptation of the series titled Scott Pilgrim vs. The World stayed faithful to the original graphic work, but the newest animated series is set to be even more faithful to the vast content of the novels. Along with this, the entire voice cast of the new series is made up of the original actors from the movie adaptation of O’Malley’s work, and with the new sneak peek into the series now on our screens, the combination of the two is worth all the excitement that fans are giving it. It is a newly animated twist on a very familiar story.
The new clip depicts a memorable scene from the movie. It shows Scott anxiously attempting to impress his love interest, Ramona Flowers. He finds out that his crush has a job delivering DVDs for Netflix and in his perusal, he orders a DVD and waits patiently for his lover to arrive. Once the doorbell rings and he realizes that Ramona has arrived, Scott instantly opens the door to greet his crush who is glowing in a ton of beautiful light. Fans of both the graphic novel and the original film will instantly recognize this clip as it holds the same gushy love-ridden Scott in an adorable perusal. Not only will fans recognize the scene but they will also instantly recognize the voices of Michael Cera (Superbad, Juno), Kieran Culkin (Succession), and Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Rec) as they voice their original roles. Other cast members will include Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Alison Pill (Goon), Johnny Simmons (Jennifer’s Body), Ellen Wong (The Carrie Diaries), Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame, Knives Out), Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore), and, Mae Whitman (The Perks Of Being A Wallflower), just to name a few.
