Ewan McGregor (The Phantom Menace, Moulin Rouge!) is keeping the fire alive for Star Wars fans. In a recent appearance at LA Comic Con, he commented on a potential second season for the prequel series Obi-Wan Kenobi. According to Deadline, McGregor hinted at himself, along with Disney and Lucasfilms, exploring potential plot lines for a second season.
According to Deadline, McGregor spoke about the future of the franchise, saying, “Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there.” McGregor portrayed a young version of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first three Star Wars installments and reprised the role for the prequel series last year.
The actor went on to speak on the dreams he has for his presence in the franchise, “There’s a couple of things. I’d quite like to wear that armor. I was speaking to someone earlier from the Clone Wars. I think that’s something I would enjoy” according to Deadline.
He later added, “I don’t care, I’ll do it. And that way, Hayden and I can really get back together again” about using CGI to de-age him for potential sequels.
As for the future of the series, McGregor stated his desire to return to the character and continue the series, “I hope we get a chance to do another one, and I’m sure we will…I’m pretty sure, you know, I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in A New Hope. So there’s time to tell more stories in there,” according to Deadline.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Star Wars prequel series focusing on the Jedi master as he attempts to rescue a young Princess Leia from the galactic empire. The sixth episode of the series received mixed reviews from hard-core Star Wars fans and casual viewers. Nonetheless, McGregor stays hopeful for a second season, and with these new comments, fans are hopeful that Disney and Lucasfilms are putting together potential plot lines.
