According to Deadline, CBS is extending its celebration of the iconic sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond with a second installment of its 30th anniversary reunion. Titled Everybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion Part Two, the hourlong special is scheduled to air December 22 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and will also be available to stream on Paramount+.
As Deadline reports, the follow-up special comes on the heels of the strong performance of the original reunion event. Like Part One, the new installment is hosted by series star Ray Romano (Men of a Certain Age, The Big Sick) alongside creator Phil Rosenthal (Somebody Feed Phil, Exporting Raymond), who once again guide viewers through memories from the long-running family comedy.
According to Deadline, Part Two will feature never-before-seen footage filmed in front of a live studio audience during production of the original reunion special. That taping brought together the surviving core cast of the Emmy-winning series on a meticulously recreated set, including Patricia Heaton (The Middle, Carol’s Second Act), Brad Garrett (’Til Death, Finding Nemo), Monica Horan (Monk, Hot in Cleveland), Madylin Sweeten (Just for Kicks, The Christmas Path), and Sullivan Sweeten (Casting Call, Frank McKlusky, C.I.).
Deadline also notes that the second part will include pre-taped interviews with writers, producers, and guest stars whose segments did not make the original broadcast. In addition, CBS will air classic clips and outtakes from Everybody Loves Raymond that were left on the cutting-room floor during the first special.
Speaking previously to Deadline, Romano explained that the initial reunion event was heavily edited due to time constraints. “It’s a 90-minute special, which is only 66 minutes [with no commercials],” Romano said. “We were out there for almost two and a half hours, three hours, maybe.” He added that there was significantly more interview material and audience interaction than viewers ultimately saw.
According to Deadline, one of the moments deleted from the first airing was a section in which Romano and Rosenthal addressed their late fathers, both of whom appeared on the original series as Elks Lodge members. Romano’s father, Albert Romano, died in 2010, while Rosenthal’s father, Max Rosenthal, died in 2021.
As noted by Deadline, additional unused footage includes Romano and Rosenthal’s first responses upon entering the recreated Raymond set, as well as Romano’s prolonged audience banter, which was cut for time. Many of these situations are planned to be included in Part Two.
The original Everybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion, which aired November 24 with an encore on November 28, drew 10.08 million Live+7 multiplatform viewers across broadcast and streaming, per Deadline.
Part Two is produced by Fulwell Entertainment, with executive producers Ray Romano, Phil Rosenthal, Rory Rosegarten (The Kardashians, An Audience with Adele), Eddy Yablans (Friends: The Reunion, The Late Late Show with James Corden), Gabe Turner (Class of ’92, The Edge), Emma Conway (One Direction: This Is Us, Sunderland ’Til I Die), and Eric Pankowski (Carpool Karaoke, Friends: The Reunion), according to Deadline.
