ESPN Makes a Deal with Tom Brady for a 9-Part Documentary Series ‘Man In The Arena’

Following the immense success of ESPN’s The Last Dance documentary, the sports network announced that it will be developing a nine-part documentary series Man In The Arena revolving around a football icon in Tom Brady, according to Deadline. For the past five weeks, ESPN has aired two episodes back-to-back of the ten-part documentary series The Last Dance that centered on Michael Jordan’s exploits on and off the court in addition to providing first-hand accounts of his time with the Chicago Bulls, particularly in his final season from 1997-1998. This documentary achieved great critical and rating success during its run which has now transitioned into ESPN creating a similar project for one of football’s all-time greats, Tom Brady.

The Brady documentary is to be titled Man In The Arena and is aimed to be released sometime in 2021. Similar to The Last Dance, this Brady documentary will incorporate candid primary accounts of the quarterback’s career, especially highlighting their nine trips to the Super Bowl. Brady has recently signed away from his long-time home with the New England Patriots by signing a one year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The documentary series will be co-produced by ESPN, Religion of Sports, and Brady’s 199 Productions, in addition, to be led by Connor Schell, the Vice President of ESPN Films & Original Content and a frequent contributor to the network’s 30 for 30 documentary series.

Currently, as mentioned earlier, Man In The Arena is set for an undisclosed release date in 2021 and its nine episodes will be considered an ESPN multi-platform final project. Check out the trailer below:
