ESPN Announces The Cancellation Of ‘Around The Horn’

ESPN cancels show Around The Horn after 23 memorable years. We first saw the show back in 2002 and since then has become a staple for ESPN. In a Hollywood Reporter article, they shared that Around The Horn is the longest-running TV show in sports. With many memories, Tony Reali the host, has taken up the 5 pm slot for several years. The show provides audiences with a panel of sports experts with a hint of a game show. The panel will share their opinions regarding events that happened in a sports game and earn points from the host. If the commenters say the wrong thing their microphone can be muted to stop them from speaking.

The Hollywood Reporter shared David Roberts ESPN executive EP’s thoughts on the show ending Around the Horn has had a remarkable run of more than two decades. That kind of longevity in media is incredibly rare, and we look forward to celebrating the show’s many accomplishments before the final sign-off in May.” Following up with a message to the cast and crew. “Beyond Tony and the ensemble of on-air contributors, we are particularly grateful to the production team led by Erik Rydholm and Aaron Solomon, who have been instrumental in ATH’s consistent success since the very beginning.”

Some familiar faces that we’ve seen on the show are Jemele Hill (Sports Reporter), Bomani Jones (Sports Writer), Mina Kimes (Journalist), and Woody Paige (Columnist). Fans are sad to see the show go but the network is working on new projects to fill the 5pm slot. For the time being ESPN will replace Around The Horn with another popular show SportsCenter.

ESPN is working on direct-to-consumer service, which will provide viewers with content better suited for their network. In the same article ESPN talks about the “overhaul” of their schedule and the difficulty within that. The changes within the network are what brings on the cancellation of shows and cutting down of the cast. The last episode of Around The Horn will air on May 23rd, 2025. Tune into ESPN to catch their goodbye.
