Erin Andrews Named New Co-Host of ‘Dancing with The Stars’

ABC announced this morning that the Fox reporter will replace Brooke Burke-Charvet as the co-host of the show for the upcoming season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC officially named Erin Andrews the new co-host of Dancing with the Stars. She will be joining the returning co-host Tom Bergeron. The Fox reporter replaces Brooke Burke-Charvet who left the show less than a month before the premiere of season 18 airs on March 17. “I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture,” Burke-Charvet said in a statement.

Conrad Reed, the executive producer of the show said in a statement on Saturday that Burke-Charvet “has been a wonderful part of the Dancing with the Stars family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We’d like to thank Brooke for her years of great service.”

Andrews competed as a dancer in 2010 in Dancing with the Stars and finished third along with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. She is also working in the news area for FOX. A representative of the network said, “We are very excited for Erin and this opportunity for her but her FOX Sports responsibilities remain the top priority,” as noted by The Wrap.

Over the last few years, the competition has faced a decrease in viewership. Last November, the show has it lowest season finale earning a 2.4 rating and 12.8 million viewers (it was down 20 percent from the last fall’s finale).

On March 4, the cast of season 18 of Dancing with the Stars will be announced on Good Morning America.
