Eric Dane Lands Role In Amazon’s ‘Countdown’ As ‘Euphoria’ Goes On Hiatus

Eric Dane (X-Men: The Last Stand), widely known for his portrayals of Cal Jacobs in Euphoria and Dr. Mark in Grey’s Anatomy has landed new role in the upcoming Prime Video thriller Countdown while the show is on hiatus. Additionally, the script for Euphoria season three is currently in production with the creator, Sam Levinson (Deep Water), at the helm.

According to Deadline, the synopsis for the upcoming series follows a stream of murders by LAPD officer Mark Meachum, played by Jensen Ackles (Supernatural), as he is recruited to join a secret task force to uncover a sinister plot behind the cast. Dane will step into the role of Nathan Blythe, a seasoned Special Agent in Charge. He is described as a seasoned professional with a military background and a strong passion for fighting for justice. The series will consist of 13 episodes, and along with Jesse and Eric, the other cast member will be Jessica Camacho (Sleepy Hollow). Derek Haas (The A-Team) will be the series’ executive producer and showrunner from Amazon MGM Studios.

The series adds to the busy actor’s growing list of projects, demonstrating his ability to captivate audiences in diverse roles. According to Deadline, Eric’s current roles include the lead in TNT’s drama series The Last Ship, the antagonist to Will Smith (Men in Black) and Martin Lawrence (Big Momma’s House) in Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Amazon’s One Fast Move alongside K.J. Apa (Riverdale) and Tony Tost’s (Damnation) directorial debut, Americana.

With Euphoria on hold and the details surrounding the third season remaining scarce, this new project allows Dane to showcase his talents in a different genre. The premiere date of Countdown has yet to be revealed further, but when more details become available, crime thriller enthusiasts should not miss out on this series.
