Ellen Page to Return for ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season Two, Airing on Netflix July 31

A second season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy will air on July 31. The season will have 10 one-hour long episodes, according to TV Line.

The series, based on comics written by My Chemical Romance lead vocalist Gerard Way, explores the 1989 event when 43 babies were all born on the same day by mothers who exhibited no signs of pregnancy. From there, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire played by Colm Feore (Thor), adopts seven of the infants, gives them a corresponding number and hero name, and forms a team to save the world.

To avenge the deaths of their adoptive father and Ben Hargreeves, aka Number 6/The Horror, played by Justin H. Min (American Refugee), the remaining six will work simultaneously to solve the mystery of their deaths and defend against a global apocalypse, according to TV Line.

The remaining children, Luther/Number 1, Diego/Number 2, Allison/Number 3, Klaus/Number 4, The Boy/Number 5, and Vanya/Number 7, are returning.

Luther, played by Tom Hopper (I Feel Pretty), also goes by Spaceboy. Diego, played by David Castañeda (We Die Young), also goes by The Kraken. Allison, also known as The Rumor, will be played by Emmy Raver-Lampman (Stucco) and Robert Sheehan (Misfits) will play Klaus, who is also called The Séance. Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn) will return as The Boy and Ellen Page (Juno) will come back as Vanya, The White Violin.

In addition to the returning cast, Variety announced a trio of new characters for season two: Ritu Arya (Humans) as Lila, Yusef Gatewood (Good Omens) as Raymond and Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete) as Sissy.

On the Netflix YouTube channel, the cast virtually celebrated the announcement of Season 2.
