Elizabeth Olsen Teases “a Wild Ride” for Disney+’s ‘WandaVision’

Described as a sitcom, WandaVision has left many Marvel fans with questions about the show, its characters, and relations with the movies. Although a couple of those questions have been answered, there is still somewhat of a mystery behind what the show is about.

“I’m so excited,” Olsen said. “We get to play around with a totally different genre with these characters that we have based in reality, on this planet Earth where it could also be exploded by aliens or whatever — that reality. We’ve based it there, and now we get to morph them into a sitcom universe and get to be stylized, we get to play around as actors, [and] we get to play around with time period. It’s just gonna be a wild ride and then it’s gonna morph back into the familiar world that we know of Marvel. It’s gonna be a mashup.”

Bettany assumed a conversation with Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, could go either two ways – both disappointing. “Oh, I don’t think that myself or Lizzie have ever been more surprised when Kevin pitched the idea to us,” Bettany explained. “A and One, I thought I was being brought in to be fired; B and Two, I thought they were gonna let me down, you know, like, ‘Listen, Paul, we love you, but…’ And instead what he did was pitch this idea for a sort of six hour movie that I would never in a million years, which is why he’s the one earning the really big bucks, have thought of. And it’s so avant-garde and weird and messed up and then moves seamlessly into more familiar territory. But the place that it starts is so odd.”

“In these situations, you always say ‘We’re really excited,’ but I’m genuinely blown away,” Bettany said. “As the scripts come in, the work is just so extraordinary.” Bettany has us excited for what’s to come in not only WandaVision but for all the Marvel TV shows being produced for Disney+.
