In a recent interview given to Good Morning America, Elizabeth Olsen (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) revealed that she hasn’t been made aware of any plans to include her character in Agatha: House of Harkness, the spinoff series of Disney+’s WandaVision. Her absence means that the lead character of WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff, may be left out of the spinoff series.
“There is no plan and I’m serious. I’m not a good liar. I wish I had a plan, and I’m not sure,” Olsen said on the GMA interview. “I’m really excited for fans to see this film because it is something very different from what they’ve seen and I’m really curious to hear what they want after, because I think it is a very surprising film.”
Olsen previously told the New York Times that she “started to feel frustrated” for her Marvel work and contract. “I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being. And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it.”
“It took me away from the physical ability to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things I enjoyed as an audience member,” Olsen said to NYT about the MCU. “And this is me being the most honest.”
However, Olsen didn’t rule out the possibility that she will be back to more MCU projects, though it may not beHouse of Harkness. She praised the freedom that has been given to her character Wanda. “I think these films are best when it’s not about creating content, but about having a very strong point of view — not because you need to have a three-picture plan.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen’s most recent MCU project, was released in May 2022. Olsen portrays the role of Wanda Maximoff once again. The film received generally positive feedback from critics and impressive commercial performance. “There’s a couple different versions of what could happen at the end of this film. Mostly, I want to hear what the fans who know her best, what they would like to see from her next.” Olsen commented on the fate of her character Wanda as in the end of Doctor Strange.
Meanwhle, Olsen admits that she desires to be in an X-Men project. “If we’re bringing X-Men back, I’ll want to be there. But I have no actual plans yet. I am very excited to talk with [Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige] about that at some point.”
