‘Elementary’ Adds John Noble as Series Regular

John Noble, known for his role on Fringe, is joining the fourth season of Elementary on CBS.

Noble will play Sherlock’s father on the drama. Sherlock Holmes is played by Jonny Lee Miller.

Noble’s character has been referenced in previous seasons. The show makes the audience believe that he had something to do with Sherlock’s first session of rehab three years ago. Sherlock’s dad, played by Noble, proceeds to match his son up with Joan Watson (Liu), who is his sober companion and investigative partner and friend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in Noble’s debut on Elementary, he will return to New York City due to the relapse of his son.

Robert Doherty, series creator and executive producer, commented about the addition of John Noble. “We could not be more delighted to have John Noble taking on such an important role. We’ve enjoyed his work for many years now — especially his tremendous run on Fringe — and cannot wait to see him opposite Jonny and Lucy. It’s going to be an exciting season.”

Some of Noble’s credits include a series regular role on Fox’s Sleepy Hollow as well as some  guest roles on ABC’s Forever. Noble also had a gig on CBS’s The Good Wife.

Noble is represented by Coast to Coast Talent, Seven Summits Pictures and Jacobson Russell.

Elementary will return with season four in the fall on Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
