The cardinal rule for all things media is that the main character is as good as their adversary. In this case, Prime Video has found the adversary for Kratos in Ed Skrein (Jurassic World: Rebirth, Love, Death & Robots). Skrein will play Baldur the main antagonist in the television series God of War.
For those who don’t know, God of War is a video game series centered around mythology. For this series it will focus on the Norse Mythology part of the series. Throughout the series Kratos and his son Atreus embark on journey throughout the nine realms in the hopes of fulfilling Faye’s request of spreading her ashes across the highest mountain in all the realms. However, the quest will not be easy for in their way is Baldur, the son of Odin. In the video game, Baldur was tasked by Odin to hunt down a giant that had been living in Midgard. Unbeknownst to him the giant who you’ll discover is Faye had died and Kratos her husband was mistaken for said giant. The two would end up having an altercation and Baldur would not relent until he had kill who he needed to kill. Skrein will have what it takes to bring the character to life when the project is fully complete.
The cast consists of Ryan Hurst (The Abandons, Desert Road), Callum Vinson (The Night Agent, Poker Face), Teresa Palmer (The Family Next Door, Mix Tape), Mandy Patinkin (The Artist, The American Revolution), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Kiff, Reykjavík Fusion), Max Parker (Boots, Doctor Who), Alastair Duncan (Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Dune: Awakening), Danny Woodburn (The Witcher, Bookie), and Jeff Gulka (Laid, The Irrational). Randy D. Moore (For All Mankind, Outlander) will serve as the showrunner for the series and Cory Barlog (Curtis Takes a Wrong Turn, Niche) will be an executive producer for the series.
According to Amazon MGM Studios, pre production is underway in Vancouver. While you wait for an official trailer you can play the video games on Playstation.
