The Arrangement features Megan Morrison as Christine Evangelista and Kyle West as Josh Henderson, actress Christine’s costar and love interest. Also on screen is Lexa Doig who plays Deann Anderson and Carra Patterson as Shaun. The Arrangement is the story of a young actress who auditions for a lead role in a hit summer Hollywood blockbuster, and her life is turned upside down by fame. The Arrangement shows the urgency and drama present on and offscreen in the society of “young Hollywood.” Some have interpreted the shows events to be referencing or inspired by Scientology and the relationship between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, but some disagree with this viewing.

A project from ABC’s network Freeform called Famous in Love seems very similar to The Arrangement, though it is not described as a modern Cinderella story as The Arrangement often is. Famous in Love is about a college student who also auditions for a lead role in a Hollywood blockbuster. Lead young protagonist Paige Townsen (played by Bella Thorne) also develops a love interest with her costar and must juggle her life while dodging paparazzi. These shows tap into an obsession among American youth to follow tabloids, movie stars, and those opulently wealthy individuals whose misbehavior is so entertaining. Another show in a similar vein is reality tv show Second Wives Club which is set to premiere May 4 on E!. Famous in Love premieres next Tuesday, April 18 on Freeform.
The Arrangement is one of E!’s few scripted television shows, as opposed to their usual reality tv style for shows like Second Wives Club and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
