TNT just green-lit a new reality series set to be hosted by “The Rock”.
The Hollywood Reporter learned that TNT has just ordered an eight-episode reality show to be hosted and executive produced by Dwayne Johnson.
The series will be provisionally named Wake Up Call and will follow regular people who face multiple challenges in their daily lives: dysfunctional homes, dead-beat dads, sports team who can’t reach success and new businesses struggling to survive, among others.
“Wake Up Call evolved from our experience on The Hero and is its natural successor, bringing the human spirit of that show home to take on everyday challenges.”, said David Eilenberg, TNT’s senior vp unscripted development, “In this new series, Dwayne will bring his mission of empowerment and change right to people’s front doors.”
Dwayne Johnson expects to get as much success with this new show as he got with The Hero, which wrapped its run this summer with one million viewers in total.
There isn’t a date set for the series to start, but it will most likely begin in 2014.
