The Dungeons and Dragons series Dungeon Masters will be venturing into the World of Warcraft universe as part of its next campaign, according to an Instagram post by the company. The announcement comes shortly after parent company Wizards of the Coast revealed a collaboration with the MMORPG giant as part of their new Universes Beyond initiative.
The Instagram post reads: “D&D’s actual play series Dungeon Masters featuring Devora Wilde, Mayanna Berrin, Christian Navarro, Jasmine Bhullar, Theo Solomon, and Neil Newbon is heading to Azeroth starting September 23, then will travel back to the Forgotten Realms (Icewind Dale, specifically) for some Faerûnian adventure with familiar faces.”
Fans of Dungeon Masters might notice that Theo Solomon (Vera, Doctors) is a new addition to the cast of the long-running YouTube podcast series. Solomon is likely most recognizable to tabletop role-playing aficionados as the voice of the warlock Wyll in 2023’s mega-hit Baldur’s Gate III, an expansive RPG that uses the Dungeons and Dragons rulebook for its mechanics.
World of Warcraft is the newest series to crossover with Dungeons and Dragons, joining the company of series like Stranger Things, Rick and Morty, and card game Magic: The Gathering, which is also owned by Wizards of the Coast. While most of these adventures have been somewhat limited in their scope, though, D&D: World of Warcraft seems to be more comprehensive, as indicated by the new Universes Beyond moniker. An additional crossover with the Star Wars series is also in the works.
“World of Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons are both built on a powerful idea: give players a world full of possibility, then let them make the story their own,” vice president of Warcraft’s Blizzard Entertainment told Variety. “Azeroth has always meant something different to everyone who steps into it, whether it’s built upon the heroes they become, the friends they find or the choices they make along the way.”
While the Dungeon Masters’ Azeroth campaign will begin on September 23, fans will have to wait until November 17 to get their hands on their own version of the new expansion. Fortunately, viewers won’t need to wait until then to see Solomon make his Dungeon Masters debut, as the podcast is streaming live on YouTube as a part of the ongoing Gen Con.
