Bravo, Drew Barrymore! According to Entertainment Weekly, Barrymore is set to appear on a second season episode of one of Bravo’s first scripted shows, Odd Mom Out. Barrymore will play Meredith, who’s described as a neighbor of Jill and Andy’s who is staying with them during a blizzard in New York City.
According to People, the second season of the show will feature a role reversal from the first season as Jill is going back to work at a fashion magazine while Andy will stay home with the kids and learn about parenting, since he quit his job working with his brother, Lex, at the end of the first season.
Odd Mom Out stars Jill Kargman as Jill Weber, a mom who lives in Upper East Side New York and doesn’t fit in with the other Upper East Side mothers, a fact that her elitist sister-in-law Brooke (portrayed by Saturday Night Live alum Abby Elliot) and mother-in-law Candace (portrayed by Joanna Cassidy) aren’t proud of.
Some of the storylines from the first season of the show include Andy quitting his job and going to work as a lawyer at his brother’s company, Jill trying to fit in with her wealthy in-laws, the family deciding whether to change their last name from Weber to Von Weber in order to reflect their family heritage more, Jill delivering Brooke’s newest baby who is arriving early and the worries of which kindergarten their kids will be accepted into.
The show is based off Kargman’s 2007 novel, Momzillas and is based off of her experiences of being a mom in New York City.
Another high profile guest star coming to the show is Blythe Danner, who will appear on the show as Sarah Kaplan, Jill’s mom.
Besides her guest appearance on Odd Mom Out, Barrymore is slated to star in Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet with Timothy Olyphant later this year.
Odd Mom Out‘s second season is slated to premiere on Bravo on Monday June 20 at 10 p.m. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was renewed for its second season on Aug. 10, 2015 after finishing its first season.
