Dramedy ‘Why You Will Marry The Wrong Person’ In Development at ABC

A new dramedy called Why You Will Marry The Wrong Person is in development at ABC, according to Deadline. The show comes from creators Matt Tarses (Scrubs) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor).

Highmore currently stars in and is an executive producer on The Good Doctor on ABC. The show is in its fourth season and plans on focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic. Tarses’s producing credits include Mad About You, The Goldbergs, Alex, Inc., and Atypical.

The series is based off a New York Times article of the same name. Alain de Botton wrote the article in 2016 and is also the author of a book called The Course of Love.

Why You Will Marry The Wrong Person is a one-hour dramedy that will follow various possible relationships in parallel universes. The night before their marriage, each couple begins having doubts and “what if” moments.

Highmore and Tarses serve as executive producers along with Claire Londy of Alfresco pictures and Sony Pictures TV is the studio involved.

Lindsey Rabinowitz: Recently graduated with a degree in television writing and production from Columbia College Chicago. I love everything about television and pop culture. My favorite show on TV right now is Letterkenny.
