Donald Glover Reunites Virtually with ‘Community’ Cast

Donald Glover will reunite with his former Community cast for a virtual table-read tonight at 5 PM EST to raise money for COVID-19 relief, according to Pitchfork. This acted the first Community event Glover has participated in since leaving the show in 2014. Glover and Joel McHale (The Soup), Gillian Jacobs (Walk of Shame), Danny Pudi (Star Trek Beyond), Yvette Nicole Brown (Drake & Josh), Alison Brie (The Lego Movie), Jim Rash (The Way Way Back), and Ken Jeong (The Hangover) will read season five, episode 4, “Cooperative Polygraphy,” the second to last episode Glover filmed with the cast.

Season five of Community continued for six episodes after Glover’s departure before ultimately concluding its run in 2015 with its sixth and final season. The show surrounded a fictional Colorado Greendale Community College and its students’ comedic filled adventures.

Before Glover’s film and musical career took off, the actor, writer, and director was with the cast of Community as character Troy Barnes from 2009-2014. Since then, Glover has excelled in his acting and music career, with his recent album release, under his stage name Childish Gambino, titled 3.15.20, along with his contributions to Atlanta receiving 2 Primetime Emmys in Outstanding Lead Actor and Director in a Comedy Series in 2018.

Fans are asked to donate to the World Central Kitchen and Frontline Food relief efforts, and actors will be joined by show’s creator Dan Harmon. Watch the video below:
