Dominic West Signs On For Showtime’s Spy Thriller ‘The Agency’

According to Variety, Dominic West (The Crown, The Wire) has joined the cast of the upcoming political espionage thriller series The Agency, set to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime. West is a familiar name to Showtime audiences for his standout role in the acclaimed series The Affair, which ran from 2014 to 2019 and earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2015. He is also recognized for his work in The Wire on HBO and the BBC miniseries Les Miserables. More recently, West starred in the final two seasons of The Crown on Netflix, earning an Emmy nomination for his performance. His film credits include Chicago, 300, Pride, The Square, Mona Lisa Smile and 28 Days. West is represented by Tavistock Wood and WME.

West will guest star as the Director of the CIA, joining an ensemble that includes lead Michael Fassbender (Shame, The Killer), along with Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, After Yang), Katherine Waterston (Slow Horses) and Richard Gere (Pretty Woman). Additional regular cast members are John Magaro (Past Lives), Alex Reznik (Babylon), Andrew Brooke (PhoneShop), Harriet Sansom Harris (Frasier) and others. Recurring roles will be filled by actors such as Adam Nagaitis (To Walk Invisible), Ambreen Razia (Murdered by my Father) and David Harewood (Homeland). The series is based on the French spy show Le Bureau des Legendes and follows Fassbender’s character, Martian, a covert CIA agent navigating complex alliances and personal relationships amid high-stakes espionage.

Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow, Ford v Ferrari) are writing and executive producing, with Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice) directing the initial episodes. Other executive producers include notable industry figures like George Clooney (ER), Grant Heslov (Argo) through Smokehouse Pictures and David C. Glasser of 101 Studios. The Agency will premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime on November 29, followed by a broadcast release on December 1 and will stream internationally in territories such as the UK, Canada and Germany.
