Dominic Rains Departs ‘Chicago Med’ Cast, Will Not Appear In Season 10

Chicago Med is losing a cast member for the up and coming tenth season. According to TVLine, actor Dominic Rains (Burn Country, Modern Persuasion) will not return as Dr. Crockett Marcel for season ten. Rains joined the cast back during season five.

There is yet to be any news regarding if Rains is going to return later on as a guest star on the show. There also has not been any confirmed reason as to why the actor has exited the role, but according to TVLine, the character’s departure was predicted within the season nine finale.

On May 22, when the finale aired, viewers watched a dramatic episode where Dr. Crocket,t (the Doctor who Rains portrayed in the show), found out that one of his former patients had died. On top of that, the father of the young patient who passed also committed suicide. After finding out this news, Crockett was shaken to the core and was unable to perform surgery. Viewers watched as the events started to bring up some old emotions regarding grief. He then explains to the character Maggie that he knows how the father felt as he too had lost his daughter to leukemia and was not given the opportunity to heal and grieve properly after his daughter passed away. After this shared moment between the two, viewers were left with the question of if he was going to be exiting the story or not in order to take care of himself.
