‘Documentary Now!’ Season 3 Trailer Features Michael Keaton, Cate Blanchett, & More

IFC’s Documentary Now! is continuing to paint the spot-on spoofs of famous and not-so-famous documentaries as seen in the new trailer for season 3. Incorporating as many guest stars as possible it seems, Documentary Now! will be featuring a wide array of guest stars now that former co-star Bill Hader is pre-occupied with Golden Globe and Emmy award nominations for his tremendous work on HBO’s Barry. Though the series has routinely remained under the radar in the two seasons prior, the continuing addition to an already star lineup may spurge more eyes to pay attention to its spoofing brilliance.

Created by Hader, Fred Armisen, and Seth Myers, Documentary Now! has spoofed everything and anything relating to a documentary including but not limited too: Grey Gardens, The War Room, The Thin Blue Line, and even Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Although, the series’ humor is not reliant on the viewer’s awareness of those documentaries in question, as most of the comedic chops to be found are derived from the excellent performances of Hader and Armisen. The picturesque recapturing of the documentaries seems to just be the cherry-on-top of it all. After just two seasons, it has become one of IFC’s premier shows and fabricated a nice little nest of counter-programming for those who have discovered it on Netflix for their late-night binge content.

Season 3 will bring in some changes both in front and behind the camera, as the series will not only welcome back Helen Miren, but will also feature Cate Blanchett, Michael C. Hall, John Mulaney, and none other than Michael Keaton. Documentary Now! returns for its third season in February, check out the full trailer below:
