Dillon Francis, a DJ known for dance-tastic electronic hits like I.D.G.A.F.O.S., is set to star in Living the Dream, an upcoming scripted TV show for Comedy Central. According to a report from Deadline Monday, Francis will star as Quincy Hart, an Internet star who tries to rebuild ties with his loved ones after realizing the superficiality of his career. Francis will write for the show and provide music, the report noted.
In addition to Francis’ writing credits, comedian Aaron Karo (Aaron Karo: The Rest is History) is also on board as writer and executive producer.
Living the Dream is reportedly “in early development in the script phase,” Deadline said.
So with a show coming to Comedy Central, just how funny is the DJ known as Dillon Francis?
According to this week’s report, the musician’s sense of humor has been compared to “Andy Samberg meets Andy Kaufman.”
His comedic background includes the creation last year of One Deeper Talks, a seven-part video series featuring Francis playing fake German talk show host DJ Hanzel interviewing famous DJs, including Kaskade, Alesso, Calvin Harris, Tokimonsta and What So Not.
In 2016, he also produced a DJ-based web series parody of MTV’s Real World reality show series, DJ World, and has shown his more funny side on Viceland’s What Would Diplo Do? TV show, as noted by Deadline.
Francis’ Instagram is also constantly being populated by silly videos posted by the DJ. The most recent is a trailer for HARD Summer Music Festival that Francis said he co-wrote:
In addition, the DJ is known for posting videos of himself doing the goofiest of things. Check out a recent post below and see if the musician might have what it takes to rep the comedy in Comedy Central:
Dillon Francis’ next album is expected to be released this year and will be a Spanish-language album, according a Billboard report from January.
“I haven’t been doing Reggaeton, but I’ve been doing Moombahton, which is a genre that was created on the Internet, and it’s Reggaeton meets Dance music,” the DJ told Billboard at the time.
