Disney+’s Wizards Beyond Waverly Place has announced its official premiere date, Deadline reports. The streamer announced the news on Thursday afternoon. The sequel series will premiere on Disney Channel first, with two episodes airing on the night of Oct 29 around 8 p.m. ET/PT. All eight episodes will be released on Disney+, and Disney Channel On Demand the next day.
Furthermore, according to Deadline, Disney Channel Alums Danielle Fishel (Girl Meets World, Boy Meets World), and Raven-Symoné (That’s So Raven, The Cheetah Girls) have been confirmed by the streamer as the directors of the episodes for this first season.
Recently, according to Deadline, audiences were able to see a sneak peek of the upcoming series during the premiere of the newest Disney Channel movie, Descendants: The Rise of Red, with a first-look video embedded below.
According to Deadline, in the video above, the main leads, David Henrie (How I Met Your Mother, Monster Summer) and Selena Gomez (Monte Carlo, Only Murders in the Building), are back on set as their famous characters Justin and Alex Russo, giving nostalgia for the 2000s show that shaped an entire generation of viewers.
Furthermore, according to Deadline, there are newcomer stars such as Janice LeAnn Brown (Endings, Beginnings, Montross: Blood Rules), who portrays the character of Billie, Alkaio Thiele (The WingFeather Saga), who plays Roman Russo, Max Matenko (Platenko), who portrays the character of Milo Russo, Taylor Cora (American Gangster: Trap Queens), who plays the character of Winter and Mimi Gianopulos (Lily & Kat, Moondance Alexander), who portrays the character of Giada Russo.
According to Deadline, Henrie and the newcomer cast will star in the show, and Gomez will be guest-starring in the first episode only.
According to Deadline, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place focuses on the life of Justin Russo, now an adult, who lives with his mortal family Giada, Roman and Milo. Famous Alex Russo, Justin’s sister, returns to bring Billie to his new wizard trainer, Justin, who has to become a wizard again after a long time while also being a loving dad to his kids and protecting the Wizard World.
The creator of the show is Todd Greenwald (Wizards Of Waverly Place: The Movie). Jed Elinoff (Malibu Rescue, Best Friends Whenever) and Scott Thomas (The Banana Splits Movie, Malibu Rescue) are the series’ writers and executive producers. Other executive producers are Jonas Agin (The Troop, Romeo!), Gary Marsh (Descendants: Rise Of The Red, Calendar Girl), Henrie and Gomez. The director/executive producer of the pilot episode is Andy Fickman (She’s The Man, The Game Plan). According to Deadline, he will be directing multiple episodes of the show.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will air on Disney Channel first on October 29 and stream on Disney+ the next day.
