Disney+ has reportedly disclosed the spring premiere date for The Acolyte, the upcoming Lucasfilm Star Wars series, according to Deadline. On June 4, Star Wars: The Acolyte will be available on the streaming platform. The date was made public on Monday on the verified X account of Star Wars, hinting at additional information to be released tomorrow.
Developed by Lesley Headland (Russian Doll), The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller set in the last days of the High Republic era, transporting viewers into a galaxy of dark secrets and rapidly developing dark-side powers. When a former Padawan and her Jedi Master get back together to look into a string of crimes, they encounter forces that are darker than they could have imagined.
Deadline reports that the cast includes Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll, Chicago Fire), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917, Here Are The Young Men), Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, The Darkest Minds), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game, Deliver Us From Evil), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place, I Want You Back), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Without Remorse), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials, Logan), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna, Single Drunk Female), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Marvels’ Jessica Jones).
Skeleton Crew, another upcoming series on Disney+, is still awaiting a premiere date. Variety reports that The Acolyte is the most recent Star Wars addition. Shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Ahsoka, and The Book of Boba Fett have all been released by the streamer. Andor’s second season’s filming just ended. Also available on Disney+ is the popular television show The Mandalorian. With three seasons already broadcast, the television program will soon have a movie starting production.
