The upcoming Disney+ and Marvel Studios series Falcon and the Winter Soldier has released a second full trailer ahead of its March premiere, according to ComicBook. Following a short trailer that posed as a Super Bowl advertisement, the streaming service released a brand new television spot for the upcoming superhero six-episode series that gave fans their first glimpse at the returning Baron Zemo, or Helmut Zemo. Portrayed by Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds), the character is making his return following his last appearance in the film Captain America: Civil War.
In the television spot, Brühl’s character wears the villain’s purple mask from the comic books for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to take place following the events of Avengers: Endgame in which Steve Rogers, or Captain America, has passed away, and the duo team up to fulfill his shoes. The series will pit Falcon, or Sam Wilson, and Bucky Barnes, or the Winter Soldier, up against an unconventional foe in the Flag-Smashers, an anarchist group of individuals.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be the second series released under Marvel Studios for Disney+ following the lead from the hit series WandaVision which premiered in early 2021. The upcoming series will premiere its first episode on the streaming service on March 19. The series will witness Anthony Mackie (8 Mile, The Hurt Locker) and Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl) return as Falcon and Winter Soldier respectively. Additional cast will include the MMA and UFC star Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc, Wyatt Russell (Overlord, Black Mirror) as John F. Walker, Emily VanCamp (The Resident, Everwood) as Peggy Carter’s niece Sharon Carter who works for S.H.I.E.L.D.
