Disney+’s ‘Agatha All Along’ Star Joe Locke Explains More Of His Big Character Identity Reveal

This article contains spoilers from the fifth episode of Disney+’s Agatha All Along!

It has been confirmed that Joe Locke’s (Heartstopper) character, Teen, is Wiccan, better known as Billy Kaplan, Wanda Maximoff’s son. The Marvel fandom has speculated about this character being revealed in Agatha All Along for weeks. However, it was still surprise to see the camera point out Teen’s new powers as he forces Agatha and all of the other coven members to stray off the Witches’ Road. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Locke shared his excitement and what will come next after this huge character is revealed, Deadline reports.

“This is when things start getting real,” the actor said via Deadline. Now that everyone knows Billy’s identity, “that changes things.”

“Also, we now know that he has the ability to cause harm to them. Therefore, he is now the most powerful person on the Road,” Locke added via Deadline. “What does that change in the dynamic of the group and how does that change the future of those relationships?”

According to Deadline, Locke has to ensure this character fills the void left by Elizabeth Olsen’s (Love & Death, Oldboy), Wanda’s confirmed death in the first episode of Agatha All Along. Since Marvel is known to bring fan-favorite characters back from death countless times (Loki Laufeyson being an example), fans hope that the mother-son duo can have a special appearance in future MCU projects at some point.

In the fifth episode of Agatha All Along, according to Deadline, fans see that Billy’s magic powers are very similar to Wanda’s. An X (formerly Twitter) post points out this surprising fact, which is embedded below.

To achieve this, Locke worked alongside Jennifer White, who previously worked with Olsen as the Wandavision movement coach, to remake the correct magic-wielding just like Olsen, adding his own “finesse” to it, he said via Deadline.

According to Deadline, Locke also explained that Billy’s character arc is quickly becoming most similar to his mother’s, as his actions won’t be seen as justifiable, just like Wanda’s in Wandavision.

“Wanda does evil things but isn’t necessarily evil. Agatha, questionably, is evil, but there’s more to that, as well. We know that he’s been lying to her, and we play a lot with those dynamics of how duplicitous he is. The facade of the fanboy teen, is that completely fake or is that actually still a real part of him? This is the stuff that I found so interesting in playing him,” he shared via Deadline.

Agatha All Along weekly episodes are available each Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT till Oct. 30 on Disney+.
