The Disney+ catalog continues to grow exponentially as the months pass by. Via Screen Rant, the streaming service will reportedly develop another Marvel Studios television series revolving around Wakanda and the returning Dora Milaje leader Okoye, portrayed by Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead). Currently, it is unknown what this Wakandan series will be titled in addition to when it is expected to begin production and be released on the streaming service.
Following the death of actor Chadwick Boseman (42) who portrayed King T’Challa, Marvel Studios came out with the decision not to recast his role in future Marvel projects, yet will continue to expand the universe of Wakanda set up by the 2018 film Black Panther. Due to this, a new Marvel Studios series will engage with this story world in addition to a sequel film titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, produced by the first film’s writer and director Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station). The news of the inclusion of Gurira in this upcoming Marvel Studios series follows the inclusion of the Dora Milaje within in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The untitled series will particularly center on acting as a spinoff series that will explore the origins of Wakanda, Gurira’s Okoye, and the Dora Milaje themself. It is unknown when this series will premiere for Disney+.
