Deadline shares trailer for Shared Custody, a Spanish-language Disney+ comedy-drama series by Javier Fesser(Camino, Campeones). The eight-episode series, produced by Fremantle-backed The Immigrant, premieres globally on January 24, 2025.
Fesser makes his TV debut with this project. The trailer features Lorena López (Instant Love, La Casa) and Ricard Ferré(Pol, La Riera) navigating their separation while remaining amicable for the sake of their five-year-old daughter. For differing reasons, they’re forced to move back in with their respective parents, but things don’t go to plan.
Deadline reports that the trailer, lacking English subtitles, shows Adriana Ozores’ character walking in on her son while he’s on the toilet. This worsening living situation places strain on the uncoupled pair played by López and Farré.
The show, written and created by Juanjo Moscardó Rius (Goya-nominated A Shitty Therapy) and María Mínguez (Vivir dos Veces), is directed by Goya-winning Fesser . This series marks The Immigrant’s first project out of Spain, known for films like the Crystal Bear-winning Adolfo and ViX series Ella Camina Sola.
Speaking to Deadline, The Immigrant co-founder Camila Jiménez-Villa(Bull Run, Tijuana) noted how they approached Fesser, who carefully selects his films.
Jimenez-Villa told Deadline “It was the first time he had directed somebody else’s material — he is notoriously difficult to attach to projects,” she said. “We weren’t aware of that when we reached out, which was probably a good thing. One of the most rewarding things has been talking to Javier after the shoot had finished and hearing it was among the most amazing experiences of his life and that not writing it gave him lots of freedom as a director. It was beautiful.”
Shared Custody promises to be a compelling addition to the global TV landscape, blending humor and drama under Fesser’s direction. With a talented cast and strong creative team, the series is set to debut on Disney+ in January 2025, offering a fresh take on family dynamics and relationships.
